designed for unsworn personnel, inspectors, investigators and others who
often conduct investigations and business in high crime areas and are
unarmed.
This is an ideal course for juvenile and
adult probation/parole officers who do not have arrest powers and/or who
are unarmed but must conduct business on a regular basis in potentially
dangerous neighborhoods under potentially dangerous conditions. The
objective is simply to prevent, avoid or escape an assault.
This course is also beneficial for any
person who works with the public and is often alone, (real estate
representatives, nurses, teachers, college students, parking enforcement
officers, delivery persons etc). This course is open to the law
enforcement and civilian population.

PPCT Spontaneous Knife Defense
Course Topics: Use of Force Human
Factors, Survival Learning Research, Control Principles, Front Thrust
Kick, Knee Strikes, Brachial Stuns, Tactical Takedown, Straight Armbar
Takedown, “Lines of Attack”, Spontaneous Knife Defense
In recent years, a number of survival
training organizations have advocated utilizing deadly force in response
to an edged weapon attack from an assailant who is “up close and
personal”. This course examines the “real world” aspects of distance,
reaction time and response time needed to successfully defeat/survive
such an attack.
This course covers knife assaults, knife
tactics and considerations unlike any other knife defense system
available. This system is designed to minimize the lethal implications
of an attack. It is the PPCT philosophy that any type of knife assault
is a deadly force encounter and should be responded to accordingly. The
Spontaneous Knife Defense System is designed for police and correctional
officers who do not have the deadly force option, or for patrol officers
who must react to an unexpected or “spontaneous” knife assault.

Brachial Stuns, Tactical Takedown, Breakfalls, Avoidance Techniques for
High, Middle and Low Attacks, Ground Escapes from Top and Rear Mount,
Cross Body and Headlock Positions, Shoulder Pin Applications.
This course is designed to teach officers
how to avoid being taken to the ground and how to effectively escape if
they find themselves there. Tactics for both open and narrow
environments are examined, with particular emphasis being placed on
avoiding the grounding encounter. The 4 most common ground positions are
examined for their potential danger, and officers are taught how to
escape from these 4 positions with emphasis on regaining control of the
situation, not necessarily the subject.

Fluid Shockwave Principle, Stuns, Impact Weapon System
Target Audience: Law Enforcement,
Corrections, Military Personnel, Probation and Parole Officers
This course was originally designed for
corrections officers. Participants will learn a system of controlling
subjects by applying as little as 2 pounds of finger “touch pressure” to
selected pressure points of the head and neck. These techniques are
effective in controlling passive or defensive resistance and are highly
effective no matter what the size or strength of the subject or the size
and strength of the officer.

Baton)
Course Topics: Use of Force Human
Factors, Resistance/Control Continuum, Nerve Motor Points for Striking
and Blocking, Stances, Straight Baton & Collapsible Baton
Differences/Advantages/Disadvantages, Fluid Shockwave Principle,
Striking and Blocking Techniques
This impact weapons system (straight or
collapsible baton) is simple to learn and easy to employ under stress.
These techniques rely upon the use of gross motor skills. Participants
will learn 3 basic baton strikes and 3 basic baton blocks. They will
learn to strike utilizing the “fluid shockwave principle” to nerve motor
points of the arms and legs. When striking with an impact weapon our
intent is to temporarily disable, not permanently injure. This is a very
effective program.

Factors, Control Principles, Nerve Motor Points of the Arms and Legs,
Reactionary Gap, Front Thrust Kick, Brachial Stuns, Survival Strategies,
Weapon Retention System, Disarming Strategies.
This course teaches a simple system of
handgun retention, whether the weapon is holstered or drawn. Also
covered are retention and disarming techniques involving long guns. For
the retention techniques, participants are taught the importance of
maintaining the “reactionary gap” as well as recognizing threatening
body language that could result in them being disarmed. In order to
successfully disarm a subject, participants learn the importance of
relative distance and distractionary windows to gain control of an
assailant’s weapon.
